Thinking about facelift? Let’s talk about it!

If you are considering a way to bring a natural glow back to your face, you’re in the right place. When we think of “facelift,” many of us imagine tight, stretched skin, changing the way we look naturally—definitely not the look we’re aiming for! But what if we told you there is a technique that delivers a subtle, fresh lift without that “pulled” look?

“Move forward with no second-guessing, no guilt trips, no hesitation. Your purpose is to recreate yourself anew in each moment.” – Neale Donald Walsch

Deep Plane Facelifts VS Traditional Facelifts

Why the Deep Plane Facelift Might Be Your Best Choice for a Stunning, Natural Refresh!

What is the Deep Plane Facelift?

The deep plane facelift (rhytidectomy) technique tackles the area between the SMAS layer and deeper muscle layer that is responsible for facial expression. Our surgeons’ deep plane facelift (rhytidectomy) procedure aims to allow for the release of ligaments tethering in the deep plane region, releasing the marionette lines, resulting in natural movement, reduced appearance of sagging skin, and accentuated facial contour.

The surgeons will have to create a small incision along the course of your sideburns, around your ears, and possibly one beneath your chin. These incisions are strategically placed in the natural contour of your ears and chin to achieve the finest scars.

Through these incisions, the surgeons will elevate deeper facial tissues, secure them, and remove any excess fat. Any excess face and neck skin is trimmed away, and the wounds are sutured closed. In some cases, your plastic surgeon may insert a drain tube to prevent any buildup of excess fluid.

How Does a Deep Plane Facelift Differ from a Traditional Facelift?

The most common alternative to a deep-plane facelift is a superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) facelift, where the surgeon lifts the connective tissues in the SMAS layer and pulls them back. The main difference between the two facelifts is that the SMAS technique pulls the connective tissues while the deep-plane technique detaches and repositions them. Both deal with the SMAS layer of connective tissue, but the deep-plane technique is often more effective because it does not create tension between the tissue and the ligaments, giving a very natural result.

Another way to think about it is peeling a banana. The SMAS technique pulls on a portion of the peel, while the deep-plane technique removes the peel and then repositions it. While the phrase “deep plane” sounds more invasive, it is a more effective way to lift and reposition the skin and tissues. This technique offers you a more natural youthful result.

And speaking of a full refresh… Why stop with a facelift?

Our surgeons are also able to do multiple procedures in one trip for you, so if you are considering also doing a Rhinoplasty, or body procedures, please add this to your MEDICAL FORM and our team will work out a safe plan for you.

Are you a Suitable Candidate for a Deep Plane Facelift?

Suitable candidates for deep plane facelift should meet the following criteria:

  • Physical Health: Be in good overall health with no underlying medical conditions that could interfere with the wound healing process. However, if you do have some concerns, our surgeons will advise of a protocol to follow for surgery, so that you are able to have a safer surgery.
  • Emotional Well-being: Have realistic expectations and a positive mindset regarding the outcomes of mastopexy surgery.
  •  Stable Weight: It is recommended to be near your ideal target weight before undergoing the procedure, as weight fluctuations can affect the cosmetic results. So whatever that weight is, it is best to be stable.
  • Non-smoker: Smoking or vaping dramatically interferes with the healing process and increases the risk of complications. Therefore, candidates are required to cease smoking for a minimum of 8 weeks before and after the surgery, hopefully never starting again as smoking ages the skin.
  •  Alcohol: no alcohol a min of 2 weeks pre and post-surgery. This will reduce the risks of bruising and slow
    healing.

Deep Plane Recovery Time

Recovering after a facelift (rhytidectomy) varies from patient to patient. Recovery often involves bruising and swelling around the surgical site which will ease off after a few days to a week. As you will be recovering in our gorgeous 5-star hotels in Bangkok or Istanbul, this will be very comfortable for you. You will also be wearing a compression garment to help with healing for the first 2-3 weeks – your surgeon will advise the length of time due to your healing.

Pain relief medications may be prescribed to help you feel more comfortable during your healing process. We encourage you to apply frequent cold compresses to reduce swelling and ensure you get plenty of rest.

Results vary between individuals. However, immediate results are seen as soon as you lift your bandages, and more natural results are observed around three months or later as your facial tissues, muscles, and skin settle.
