Tummy tucks, also known as Abdominoplasty, are surgical procedures aimed at removing excess skin and fat from the abdominal area and tightening the abdominal muscles. There are several types of tummy tucks, each designed to address different concerns and achieve specific aesthetic goals. In some cases, for the best results, the surgeon may also suggest liposuction in areas such as upper abdomen, hips or flanks.
Here are some common types:
Traditional/Full Tummy Tuck: This is the most common type of tummy tuck. It involves an incision made from hip to hip, just above the pubic area. The surgeon then removes excess skin and fat, tightens the abdominal muscles, and repositions the belly button if necessary. This type of tummy tuck is suitable for patients with significant excess skin and muscle laxity.
Mini Tummy Tuck: This procedure is less extensive than a full tummy tuck and is suitable for patients with minor to moderate excess skin and fat below the navel. The incision is shorter than that of a full tummy tuck, and the belly button may or may not be repositioned. The focus is usually on the lower abdomen.
Extended Tummy Tuck: An extended tummy tuck addresses excess skin and fat not only in the abdominal area but also extends around the hips and lower back. This procedure is suitable for patients who have undergone significant weight loss and have excess skin and fat in these areas.
Circumferential Tummy Tuck (Lower Body Lift): This is the most extensive type of tummy tuck and is often performed on patients who have undergone massive weight loss, such as after bariatric surgery. It involves removing excess skin and fat from the entire abdominal area as well as the back and hips, resulting in a more comprehensive body contouring.
Fleur-de-Lis Tummy Tuck: This procedure is similar to a traditional tummy tuck but involves an additional vertical incision along the midline of the abdomen, resulting in a scar that resembles the shape of a fleur-de-lis. It is typically performed on patients who have undergone massive weight loss and have excess skin not only horizontally but also vertically.
360-degree and Fleur-de-Lis Tummy Tuck: This procedure is usually performed after a significant weight loss. It involves removing a belt of skin 360 degrees around the body and also the Fleur de lis procedure on the upper abdomen. This is done when there is a lot of excess skin on the upper and lower abdomen and also across the lower back.
Reverse Tummy Tuck: In a reverse tummy tuck, the incision is made along the upper abdomen, usually just below the breasts. This procedure is suitable for patients who have excess skin and fat in the upper abdominal area but minimal issues in the lower abdomen.
People may consider getting a tummy tuck for various reasons, including:
Excess skin and fat: Significant weight loss via weight loss surgery or diet and exercise, pregnancy, or aging can lead to excess skin and fat accumulation in the abdominal area that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise. A tummy tuck can remove this excess tissue, resulting in a flatter, more toned abdomen.
Muscle laxity: Pregnancy or significant weight fluctuations can cause the abdominal muscles to stretch or separate, resulting in a protruding or “pooch” appearance. A tummy tuck can tighten and repair these muscles, improving core strength and reducing abdominal bulging.
Improved body contour: Some individuals may be unhappy with the shape or contour of their abdomen due to genetics or other factors. A tummy tuck can reshape the abdomen, creating a more proportionate and aesthetically pleasing figure.
Boosting confidence: Many people experience a boost in self-confidence and body image after undergoing a tummy tuck. Removing excess skin and fat and achieving a flatter abdomen can help individuals feel more comfortable and confident in their appearance.
Clothing fit: Excess abdominal skin and fat can make it challenging to find clothing that fits well and feels comfortable. By undergoing a tummy tuck, individuals can enjoy better-fitting clothing and feel more confident in their wardrobe choices.
Post-pregnancy restoration: Pregnancy can cause significant changes to the abdominal area, including stretched skin, separated muscles, and stubborn fat deposits. Some women opt for a tummy tuck as part of a mommy makeover to restore their pre-pregnancy body contours and address post-pregnancy changes.

To improve the post-surgery look of your scar, it is important to stop smoking as soon as you decide to have the procedure or at least 2 months pre-surgery and not to take it up again post-surgery for your healing, no alcohol 2 weeks pre and post-surgery. Our surgeons will also give you directions based on your personal medical form regarding your medications, etc.

Yes, absolutely and there are no extra hotel charges. The only extra is their flights. We do not charge any extra costs to your package if you bring a companion. But please note that this is not a normal holiday, so your travel companion must put your needs first and allow you to rest and recover at your pace. The hotels we offer are excellent for your post-surgery care and absolutely gorgeous and chosen to ensure the best recovery for you.
What happens if I am not able to do the procedure once I arrive?
This is extremely rare as our team with the surgeons ensures that all issues have been resolved prior to your departure. The surgeon requires certain tests based on your medical form to ensure that you will have the surgery. So, it is important to be truthful and honest on your medical form, with any medical conditions and medications etc you have. We will do our best to ensure all details are covered so that by the time you are ready to board the plane to your destination, you will be having your surgery. If you now smoke, please stop, etc as this also may be the reason why surgery was refused.
Please note that the only reason to cancel will be to ensure your safety. In our 20 years of operation, we have only had 2 clients that were refused, one was due to her non-disclosure of a medical condition that was discovered, hence one of the main reasons why, for many years now, we ask for pre-op tests to be done before you fly. The other was due to her not giving up smoking and alcohol. So we ask you to respect that this is surgery, even though it is elective, the surgeons still respect the process.
However, if for safety reasons the surgeon has refused your surgery, then the money will be refunded to you, deducting our non-refundable deposit, test costs, any hotel costs already used, and any outstanding costs that you have incurred during your stay. The remaining payment will be refunded within 30 days.
Please contact us if you have any other questions and we will be very happy to answer all your questions or concerns.
