Bangkok’s modern, multi-storey shopping malls are a shopaholic’s paradise…
All these shopping centres are very close to all our hotels. We do suggest you take a taxi or the skytrain to the shopping centres if you have had surgery – it is too hot to walk and can be difficult to navigate when you first get back to your hotel after surgery. Always go to the taxi ranks at the shopping centres to come back to the hotel, remembering the bring your chosen hotel’s taxi card (which you can grab from the front desk). If you are staying at the Grande Centre Point Terminal 21, you can simply walk downstairs and straight through the doors to one of Bangkok’s best shopping centres – Terminal 21.
These malls are where you’ll find the city’s finest fashion stores, global brands, book shops, specialty stores, accessories stands and all kinds of luxury designer lifestyle goods. Not only are you spoiled for choice; it’s all super easy to navigate. Modern and air-conditioned, they’re also a pleasant alternative to the bustling hot markets, and most complexes are easily accessible via the city’s modern and efficient Skytrain (BTS) system. Don’t forget to sport comfortable shoes and take lots of breaks.
Just remember that if you over shop you still have to pack it in your suitcase so it is a good idea to pack light when you come to Bangkok and then you can fill your suitcase on the return.
TOP TIP
It is best to avoid the big Chatuchuk Weekend Market if you have had surgery. It is very big, very hot and very far away from the city centre. You can now find the same products (for the same prices) at MBK, Platinum or Asiatique.
